dawn

It starts off

as the slightest lightening

in the colourless dark,

almost imperceptible at first

and then,

a little bolder,

and soon enough

the rose-gold glow

colours the sky

from east to west.

It starts out so small,

just a scratch of light

against the darkness,

but you know the might of the sun,

and you keep watching

as the dark is dissolved in to light.
