Gratitude #24

Gratitude #24

I hope these poems aren’t coming across as too glib. I know this is such a difficult time for so many entrepreneurs especially, who are seeing a drastic change in their income and livelihood. Shrewsbury is a real hub for entrepreneurs and small businesses so support them as much as you can if you’re local (Loads of amazing restaurants offering take away at the mo). I am mostly a stay at home mum with my one year old at the moment and I squeeze my writing in whenever I can. But my income as a writer and hand letterer has always been secondary so the shock for me is cushioned in that I spend a lot of my time at home anyway and also I can continue both of these income streams at home (if the kids will let me🤣). My husband is a musician and part-time lecturer in a college so he’s not too worried about future income at the moment. But for everyone around us, this season is life changing.

It reminds me of when Ivy (my 9 year old) was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and we thought, how will we get through an hour? How will we get through a day? How will life ever get back to normal? And to be fair it hasn’t ever gone back to ‘normal’ and I don’t think we will go back to normal because this will change and shape all of our lives but there is still joy and thankfulness to be found on the other side and all the way through this scary time, if we look for it. (And that last sentence is one that I wrote in my book Circles and it just popped back into my head so I stole from myself, if that’s allowed! 🤣) #gratitude #gratitudepoem
