#75

And then the next day,
driving down to Kidderminster,
I am glad that we are together,
not sad that I am wasting a day
going all that way to fetch a car.
Because after all,
when you have children,
what is time wasting anyway?
We pick up the car,
and drive back to a playground
that we saw on the way.
It is the last day of the school holidays,
and there is a splash park.
Water fountains,
and yellow buckets hanging
on the pirate ship
that refill themselves and empty
every now and then.
There are guns shooting water in huge arcs.
The children are delighted and strip down to pants and T-shirts
and run around in it.
It is cloudy and
they are the only ones there.
People look at us
as if we are mad
to let our children run about
in the cold water
but it doesn’t matter a jot
to us or to them.
